This page describes a free Windows database system for tracking symptoms of Meniere's Disease and related disturbances of the inner ear.

[Updated December 14, 2002]

The above screen shot shows the current data entry screen. In addition to entryfields for a wide variety of inner-ear-related symptoms, there are searches for a particular date and for any word/phrase contained in the Notes (far-right notebook tab).

Under Dizziness is the following scale:

Under Vertigo is the following scale:

Under Fullness is the following scale:

Below is the screen for ear-related data...

In addition to the overall description of each symptom/condition, there is a "Trend" choice for each symptom. This is to allow an indication of whether there was improvement, worsening, fluctuation (no net direction of change), or no change. The trend setting is intended to be a sort of summary index of intra-day variation.

Meds/Treatments (above) has two fields for each med--one to identify the med and dose, and a second to report how many doses taken during the day. "Copy from previous" copies med data from the previous day, or if none on previous day, will keep looking backward until it finds some med data, if you want it to. The Treatments section is to track such procedures as surgery, gentamycin injection, acupuncture, shunt placement, etc. It is assumed that no one will be enduring any more than 2 of these on a particular day!

Above is the Personal tab, with fields for some related symptoms and possible influences on inner-ear symptoms.

Above is the Diet/Environment tab. People on special diets (restriction/elimination/rotation, etc) can choose from their own list of diet names. There's a separate screen to build a list of diet descriptions, as well as unlimited space for recording notes regarding possible responses. For those with allergies, there are separate fields for pollen levels commonly reported in newspapers or on the web.

The above screen shows the daily Notes field. It allows unlimited text entry each day.

Below are the File and Lists menus, showing the additional features of MeniereBase.

MeniereBase allows you to print and/or export to a comma-separated file (importable into Excel) your records of symptoms:

A sample printout can be viewed here in PDF format.

MeniereBase will also print date-labeled On-The-Run Data Sheets so you can keep track of your symptoms while on a business trip or vacation.

You can also print medical appointment reminders, your list of meds, Notes, and save your Notes to a textfile.
