961 nutrition questions and answers!

FlashTest is a simple and handy way for students to drill themselves in beginning nutrition. This software is similar in concept to flashcards, and includes an entire nutrition course' worth of questions---961 short questions/answers organized into 17 nutrition topics. Within topics, questions are sequentially ordered in much the way these topics are commonly taught.

This software is extremely easy to use: scroll through the list of subjects, and press ENTER to choose a subject. Then use the arrow keys to move through the questions. Press the ENTER key, and FlashTest provides a space in which to type the answer. Then press ENTER again to see the correct answer displayed onscreen. Or, press F8 to enter the "scroll mode" that allows the user to scroll all questions in all categories: search for any word with "S", continue search with "C", or see the answer to the hilighted question with "A".

Beginning students report that this software helps them to organize their thinking and better see the hierarchy of importance of various nutritional concepts. More advanced students (majors) use this software to review.

FlashTest does not evaluate answers, and answers typed in are not retained by the program.

Available for IBM-compatible computers (DOS 3.0 or higher, 640K, 3.5" or 5.25" floppy disk drive) on either 3.5" or 5.25" diskettes. FlashTest runs from the supplied floppy diskette, or installs easily to the hard drive (<1meg needed) by typing "a:install". FlashTest runs in a DOS window in either Windows 3.1 or Win95. FlashTest diskettes are sold individually to students through the campus bookstore.

Price: About $12 per disk when sold through the campus bookstore.
