Fat 'n Fiber Finder (FFF) --- an easy-to-use diet/recipe analysis program

This software tracks the nutrients you worry about.

For the many people who are primarily interested in assessing their intake of fats, sodium, fiber, and other nutrients covered by the Dietary Guidelines, these are the nutrients that FFF tracks. The software lets users scroll easily through the foods database, or use the name-indexed search, to instantly see what is in any of the 1700+ foods---Calories, total fat, saturated fat, polyunsaturated fat, monounsaturated fat, cholesterol, carbohydrate, protein, dietary fiber, sodium, and alcohol. The Macrostats and Fatstats features of DSS (instant views of carb/fat/protein statistics, or fat statistics) are included here as well.

Build recipes, enter meals, enter 24-hour food records, etc.

Users can build recipes or diets of any length, and FFF will analyze them as they are built, displaying the totals as each food is entered. The totals can be divided by any number of portions, so a recipe can be split to show the breakdown per portion. Press a key to see the nutrient contribution of any food in the diet list, or to see the whole diet list sorted by any nutrient. Entered recipes/diets may be saved to disk and recalled.

Add new foods to the database from "Nutrition Facts" labels

New foods may also be appended to the database by entering values from Nutrition Facts labels which appear on food packages, and existing nutrient values may be edited for any food in the database.

Evaluate food list vs. Dietary Guidelines

FFF also will evaluate a meal, recipe, or diet in relation to the Dietary Guidelines. It will display the evaluation results onscreen, or they may be printed out with a custom title. The nutrient analysis is also printed when the evaluation is printed.

Information panels

There are information panels for each of the nutrients covered in FFF. These offer brief explanations of each nutrient, and explain why the Dietary Guideline for that nutrient is set as it is.

FFF comes on a single 3.5" diskette. It is a DOS program (but will run efficiently in a DOS Window in any version of Windows). It requires less than 1 meg of hard disk space. A 10-page User Guide is included with the software.
